Accommodation in the jungle

Sleep in a solar-powered owner-built eco lodgeaccommodation house in Daintree rain forest

Rainforest Hideaway is not just another boring resort, it is a jungle house, painstakingly handcrafted by its owner over the last 21 years, using anything from new materials to second hand to timber and stone retrieved from the local area.

Here you do not book in to a resort, you are invited in to the jungle home of your hosts, who will ensure that you have an enjoyable stay. Read some of our guest reviews to verify that Rainforest Hideaway is not for no reason the nr.1 out of 8 B&B's in Cape Tribulation, and you will see why the Queensland Tourism campaign "Best Job In The World" gave us the 2013 Best Accommodation Queensland Award after Eliza Detrez stayed with us.

We cater to only four guests with only two rooms, so peace and quiet and personal attention is guaranteed.

Thanks to Australian authorities stubbornly denying basic services to the Daintree community we run the house on batteries, charged by solar panels and generator. This means that we have to be energy-wise in everything we do, so those who can not live without air-con, hairdryers, microwaves, large screen TV, etc. are better off staying elsewhere.

What we aim to do is give you the experience of sleeping in the oldest rain forest in the world, in an ecologically sensitive manner, a back to nature experience still maintaining a reasonable level of comfort. Other features that make this accommodation a good choice to stay are the Thai massage and the sculpture trail

Rainforest Hideaway has been operating since July 2000 and many thousands of travellers have enjoyed their stay here.

All rates quoted are per room (not per person) and include all linen, towels, help yourself coffee and tea, free Wifi, tax and Daintree Energy Levy. Rates are valid until March 2018 and the same all year round, no surcharges in high season or discounts in low season.

Keep in mind that tourism in Cape Tribulation and the rest of the Daintree is very seasonal and from June to September but especially July and August all Cape Tribulation accommodation will most likely be full so advance booking is highly recommended ..
